I'm still pretty new to this hobby, although I received a lost of
training from the "old man" while growing up. Still, the first table
say I purchased was a Craftsman 10" saw. Not knowing what features to
look for was my problem... I purchased the model with the 20" table
and its just too short to cut wide stock with, even using Norm's panel
cutter attachment. The other problem I have is with the fence; its
just too persnickity. I have to be really fussy with it if I want my
cuts to be accurate and consistent. So much so, that I have decided to
replace it at the earliest possible convience.
So I have been shopping, and although I don't have the thousands of $$
to buy a really nice saw like the Delta Unisaw, I have been looking
really hard at the Grizzly... ~$380, and its a cabinet saw (!) with
what looks like a pretty decent fence system. (anybody have one? care
to comment?)
Anyway, the only problem I could see (? by reading the literature) was
that it doesn't cut dado's greater then 5/8"... which I thought was
strange since just about every other saw will cut dado's through to
about 13/16". (Anybody know why?) Obviously, a 3/4" dado would be
pretty common for joining standard (dimensioned S4S) lumber.
If I we to choose between the two you listed, I think I'd stick with
the delta. I too felt that the plastic pieces on the Ryobi looked
pretty cheesy.
