I almost responded to this myself, but thanks for pointing it out.
According to the helpful folks at my Home Depot, the Delta's parts are made
overseas and the final assembly, if any, and packing are all that are done
here.
I just finished assembling my BT3000 (Santa gave it to me early) but have
only made a few test cuts. So far, all impressions are good. The only
caveat I've got to add to the discussion is that its hardware is metric.
I happen to have a metric socket and wrench set, since my wife and I both
own "fur-in" bicycles, but I've read of some people being upset about such
things. Funny thing about it though. The threads of the mounting bolts
seem to be standard (SAE?) US stuff, while the outter dimension of nuts
is metric. For example, they call out 1/4-20 bolts in the stand that comes
with the saw. The nuts need a 10mm wrench/socket, not 7/16", to be worked!
BTW, in two separate instances I bought a Delta tool because "at least it's
American". Both times the fine print said "made in Taiwan for Delta".
I can't fault Jennie's logic, and just hope that in 10 years we both
swear by our saws, not at them.
