I own a Ryobi 3 hp plunge (without variable speed, but very similar to the var.
speed model) which I use under a table and I've been pleased. The adjustment is
easily made by turning a large knob which turns a threaded nut, giving pretty
fine adjustment. Changing bits is a bit awkward, but this depends as much on
the table as the router. A lift out center plate makes this much easier.
Attachment to the table has been a bit of a pain. All these (foreign) routers
have small metric screws with soft cast aluminum bases. A license to strip,
even if you can find the right size/type screws (no mean trick). My advice is
to drill them out and re-tap for larger, english screws.
