I recently purchased a Bosch orbital sander and have some trouble
with it. I'm interested to learn if others have had the same
experience. The sanding head or pad is held on by a single
allen-head machine screw. After a few minutes of sanding, this
screw loosens, and the pad falls off -- really screwing up the
surface being finish sanded. The local repair service recommends
not pressing down so hard on the sander. I don't think that I
am pressing very hard, but in any case, various pressures don't
seem to matter much. Examination of the pad shows that it is
held in place by three fingers that fit into holes in the pad to
keep it from spinning, and the screw is supposed to keep these
fingers fixed in three corresponding holes in the pad. However,
the fingers are quite short and don't stick all the way through
the holes. Maybe this is the problem. Has anyone had a similar
experience and found a solution?
