If you want a large surface area for ripping, you should take a tape measure
to the saw.
The Delta Contractor's saw (Prices around $550 - $650) has a table that
is 27" deep and about 24" to the right and 12" to the left for ripping.
You can add on the 30" Unifence for $230 (or less with package deals, I have
seen the saw and 30" Unifence for $700.00), wich will give you a high
precision aftermarket fence (much better than the Ryobi) and the ability to
easily rip a 4X8 sheet of plywood in half.
I think the sliding table on the Ryobi is unimpressive for crosscutting, since
the miter guage on the Delta can crosscut the same size wood as the sliding
table on the Ryobi. However, the sliding table has some nice advantages,
especially since you can attach it to the other side and use it with the
built in router table on the Ryobi.
Also, I think the Delta is a bit sturdier.
You should try both saws and see which you like better. Be sure to compare
the Ryobi to other saws WITH aftermarket fences and extension tables.
