I own the PC sander and think it is an amazing tool. I was talked out
of the Bosch sander by three people due to a couple reasons. (I own a
Bosch Router which I am very pleased with!) The PC is built to LAST.
It has plenty of power to take down anything. The finish from sanding
should be controled by pressure and grit of the paper used. The speed
changes only allow you not to have to change to coarser or finer
paper. One sales-person told me (don't know if it is true) that the
Bosch is being aimed at the homeowner that wants his sander for
multiple duty (car polishing etc...)
A friend of mine that runs a high-end custom furniture shop says that
she has never seen the use for variable speed for finish sanding. I
tend to buy tools that are of industrial quality (when I can afford
them...)
The dust pick-up would be nice if it works. (Don't know it it really
does)
I bought for power and get-anywhere sanding disks, but I'm sure that
the Bosch is a fine tool. PC is coming out with a 6inch VS model soon,
maybe you should check into that.
