Includes a version of "Dark Star" played on hammered dulcimer, violin, and

Kerouac: Kicks Joy Darkness - var. (Rykodisc RykoReadings 10329) 26
different artists, including Robert Hunter ("Have You Ever Seen Anyone Like
Cody..."), read selections from Jack Kerouac's works. Robert Hunter offered
this about his reading (April 14, 1997, on-line journal): "I recorded my
piece, from "Visions of Cody", in my car, sitting in traffic with the windows
rolled down, playing a tape of Kerouak (sic) scat singing "Foggy London Town"
over the stereo. It was a definite moment. Take One."
Great Expectations - var. (Atlantic 83058, January 6, 1998) The original
soundtrack for this movie includes "Uncle John's Band" by the Grateful Dead.
Missing Man Formation - Vince Welnick (Grateful Dead GDCD 4058) Includes
"Samba In The Rain" and other songs written with John Perry Barlow ("The Devil
I Know") and Robert Hunter ("Golden Stairs"). Released in 1998.
Fish-Tree-Water Blues - var. (Bullseye Blues & Jazz/Rounder BEYE 9618) Ratdog
with Charlie Musselwhite (on harp) perform "Take Me To The River" on this
compilation album released on April 6, 1999.

Dick's Picks Volume 13 - Grateful Dead (Grateful Dead GDCD 4033) A three-CD
release from the May 6, 1981 show from Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New
York. Announced by Dick Latvala during the KPFA Fund Drive Marathon in
January, 1999. Disc two includes a hidden track of "Scarlet Begonias" > "Fire
On The Mountain" from November 1, 1979. The Dick's Picks Vault Party was on
March 13, 1999, at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. The cover
features a five-armed starfish fractal.
Merl Saunders With His Funky Friends - Live! - Merl Saunders (Sumertone 2193,
http://www.merlsaunders.com, September 15, 1998) Includes Jerry Garcia on a
previously unreleased alternate studio take of "Sunrise Over Haleakala"
(4:47). It also includes a version of "Dark Star" (8:21).
Release 1 - The Schwag (Jacob's Ladder Productions, http://www.theschwag.com,
1998) Includes versions of "Feel Like A Stranger" > "Eyes Of The World",
"Tennessee Jed", "He's Gone", and "Cumberland Blues". This disk was recorded
live at Mississippi Nights, St. Louis, Missouri, on January 30, 1998.
Greatest Hits 1970-1998 - The Stanford Band (EMBO Records,

released by the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band includes
versions of "Uncle John's Band", "Truckin'" (arranged by Dr. Arthur P. Barnes,
both of which first appeared on "The Incomparable Leland Stanford Junior
University Marching Band 1972" album), and "One More Saturday Night" (arranged
by Eric Strandberg, which also appears on their "Block S" album from 1982).
Sundown On The Forest - Kingfish (Phoenix Rising 2001) Released April 20,
1999. Led by Matthew Kelly, the album includes Bob Weir on four tracks
("Padlock Cufflinks" and others) and "Ridin' High" from 1973 with Jerry Garcia
on guitar, which was originally released on the Matthew Kelly "A Wing And A
